Another great week...

We have had another interesting an productive week in school.

At the beginning of the week we hosted a visit from the OECD.  They were visiting the school to look at how some schools have created Effective Learning Organisations for the learners and the staff in a school.  They were impressed with what they saw in our school and could see our commitment to making sure that everyone was committed to constant improvement through learning.

They liked the fact that we had adopted TEEP and could see how that had improved learning and teaching in the school.

A perfect demonstration of the commitment to learning of all in the school our ALN Admin Coordinator Amie Hibbert won the Apprentice of the Year Award at Colleg Cambria.  She beat off  stiff competition to achieve this award and it is so very well deserved.  Amie was presented with her award on Thursday evening by the Principal of the college Mr David Jones and TV presenter Jason Mohammad.

Transition

During the week we welcomed a number of our learners from our non traditional feeder Primary Schools.  As always is was a pleasure to see them.  They are all really looking forward to joining us in September and we look forward to working with them.

Next week brings an end to the GCSE examinations in the school.  The learners have been fantastic and the staff have worked hard to ensure that all our learners have been well prepared for each and every examination.  I really hope that in these times of uncertainty with the qualification systems in England and Wales that our learners all achieve the grades they individually deserve based on their hard work and commitment.  As Headteacher I could ask for no more.

It feels like it could be a long wait to August!
