End of another great term

Writing this blog gives me a great opportunity to reflect on the term.  Below I am going to try and capture some of the great work that has happened in the school over the last few weeks.

The Engage @ Emrys programme continues to go from strength to strength.  We have had some learners out at the surfing centre whilst others have been practicing for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Expeditions.  Other learners have been out preparing for their expedition to Thailand whilst others have been raising money in school.  We are nearly at the end of our first full year of activity and I am really proud of the range of activities learners have been able to participate in.

Visits to other countries.

As one of the few schools in the UK that has achieved the international schools award three consecutive times our international schools programme is really important.  During this term we have had learners who have participated in a French Exchange and also a separate group of learners who took part in an exchange to Poland.  These were both great experiences for the learners involved.

We have also had some great individual achievements to celebrate.  There are far too many to mention all of them but I would just like to focus on two from the Sixth Form.

Year 13 learner, Zach Wilkins, has been accepted on the Young Composer Residential course with the National Orchestra of Wales this July.  This is an exceptional achievement and Zach beat off huge competition.

Emily Wyn Roberts has been awarded a highly competitive scholarship to the Stella Mann College of Performing Arts .  She successfully auditioned back in January then was invited to audition for a scholarship. Around 70 students tried for 2 full scholarships and 3 part scholarships. Emily must have really impressed them to be given a full scholarship.  What an amazing achievement.

There are so many great things that go on in our school.  We are fortunate to have so many talented young people who go on to do great things.

I am already excited about the new term sand the new opportunities this will bring.

Thank you for all your support this term.
